If you are training for the beep test then at some point you are going to need to run a beep test to see what level you can get to.
In our Beep Test training program, the very first session you will do is a beep test to establish what level you are currently achieving. You will then do a beep test once a week to allow you to become familiar with the test and to gauge your progress.
Beep Test Instructions
In order to conduct a beep test you will need to set the course as accurately as possible, especially the distance between each end.
You will need:
- Find a no-slip surface
- Ensure that the surface is flat
- Make sure that the distance between each end is 20 metres
- We suggest getting some cones or witches hats to mark each end
- A measuring tape (try and get one that is 20 metres in length)
- Download a copy of the Beep test audio program
- An audio player to play the beep test sound track
To play the audio you could use an iPod or similar device that plays mp3 files, however we prefer a portable speaker unit that we connect an iPod to. This allows you to run freely without worrying about the earphones falling out or accidently knocking the player and loosing your spot and rhythm.
Okay, so once you have everything set up you should be right to go.
Here is a video example of one of our students Carmen running a beep test.
